Raw Diet Recipe

A delicious Indian Coleslaw for those who like it hot thanks to cumin, turmeric and jalapeno.

Indian Coleslaw


3 cups green cabbage, finely chopped
3 cups tomatoes, chopped
1 cup fresh grated coconut
1/2 cup raw ground peanuts
1 large date, soaked, pitted and mashed
2 tablespoons lemon juice
2 tablespoons peanut oil
1/2 teaspoon ground brown mustard seed
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin seed
1/4 teaspoon turmeric
1 tablespoon minced Jalapeno, or to taste (optional)
Sea salt, to taste

Recipe Directions

Toss together salad ingredients before adding dressing:

2 teaspoons honey or maple syrup
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 tablespoons grated ginger
4 tablespoons cold-pressed oil of your choice (flax or walnuts)
Dash salt

Dissolve the honey in the lemon juice. Add remaining ingredients. Pour over salad and toss.

This salad is especially delightful if it is allowed to sit for about 15 or 30 minutes.
