An unusual but delicious way to make french toast. Applesauce French Toast is extra moist, extra chewy, extra delcious!

Applesauce French Toast

Ingredients

1/2 cup liquid egg substitute or four egg whites
3/4 cup skim milk 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 tablespoons white sugar
1/4 cup applesauce
6 slices bread

Recipe Directions

In a large mixing bowl, combine the eggs, milk, cinnamon, sugar and applesauce; mix well.

Soak bread one slice at a time until saturated with liquid.

Cook on a nonstick skillet or griddle over medium/high heat until lightly browned on both sides.

Recipe Note

Best when served hot.

Extra: Reduced Fat French Toast

This Reduced Fat French Toast is an easy variation on the basic french toast recipe, except it uses reduced fat substitutes, inculding egg substitute. Serve with fruit or sugar free maple syrup.

1/2 cup egg substitute
2/3 cup skim milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
6 slices reduced calorie white bread

Beat together egg substitute, milk, vanilla and cinnamon. Dip bread slices in egg mixture until both sides are soaked.

Spray a skillet or frying pan with cooking spray and heat over medium high heat. Place bread slices into pan and cook until golden brown on both sides. Recipe makes 6 servings.
