Hot Spiced Cider
Hot spiced cider will warm you on the chilliest of Halloween nights! Spiced just right, served toasty warm.
Combine in large saucepan:
2 quarts apple cider
1/4 cup sugar
12 whole cloves
6 whole allspice
4 2-inch sticks cinnamon
Heat slowly to boiling. Boil 3 to 5 minutes. Remove spices.
Serve hot garnished with orange slices or rings of unpeeled red apple with whole cloves forced through peel. 16 servings
Variation: Tangy Cider Punch
Omit spices and heating process in Hot Spiced Cider. Combine chilled cider and sugar with 1-cup orange juice, 1/2 cup lemon juice and 1 quart ginger ale. Pour over ice cubes or crushed ice in tall glasses. About 25 servings.
