Irish Blessings Video

Irish Blessings Video

An Irish blessings video for all of our Irish friends, visitors and neighbors in honor of the upcoming St. Patrick’s Day holiday next week. The blessings in the video were given to me by a very dear Irish friend.  She did not have the originating source for them, but said they go way back in Irish history.

Wherever you go and whatever you do, may the luck of the Irish be there with you.

Here’s to you and here’s to me, I pray that friends we’ll always be, But if by chance we disagree, the heck with you and here’s to me!

May the sun shine all day long, everything go right and nothing go wrong. May those you love bring love back to you, and may all the wishes you wish come true.

May your past be a pleasant memory, your future filled with delight and mystery. Your now a glorious moment, that fills your life with deep contentment.

Always remember to forget the friends that proved untrue. But never forget to remember those that have stuck by you.

We’re in this earth together, and if we would be brothers, fight not just on your own behalf, but for the sake of others.

May your right hand always be stretched out in friendship and never in want.

Like the goodness of the 5 loaves and 2 fishes, which God divided among the five thousand me, may the blessing of the King who so divided be upon our share of this common meal.

May your blessings out-number the shamrocks that grow, and may trouble avoid you wherever you go.

Tis glad I am and glad I’ll be that you like knowin’  the likes of me!

Always remember to forget the troubles that passed away. But never forget to remember the blessings that come each day.

The Irish ne’er walk but what they dance an Irish fling, and Irish ne’er talk but with lilting voices sing.

May you live as long as you want, and never want as long as you live.

May the hinges of our friendship never grow rusty.

May you live forever and may the last words you hear be mine!

As the sun rises gold over the Emerald Isle, may your oats hot steam warm your hard work smile.

May you work like you don’t need the money, love like you’ve never been hurt, and dance like no one is watching.

May the cool rain quench your flowers thirst, renew your spirit and wash your troubles away.

Infectobesity – A Viral Fat?

Infectobesity – A Viral Fat?

Could a virus you contracted in childhood turn you into a fat adult? That’s what research says. A common human virus called “adenovirus-36”, or Ad-36 – is now said to be a contributor to human obesity. According to a report on Web MD, “One specific Ad-36 gene, called E4Orfl, is responsible for the virus’s obesity-related effects.

Infectobesity a Nasty Virus“Infectobesity” is the term coined by Louisiana State University researcher Nikhil Dhurandhar, PhD. There’s one caveat; tests were performed on mice and chickens, not humans.

Recently, viral infections have been recognized as possible cause of obesity. So the term infectobesity can be used to describe the growing nature of it. To date, in animals six viruses and a scrapie agent have been shown to be associated with obesity.

Understanding contribution of various etiologic factors of obesity may lead to treatments directed specifically toward the cause, and consequently, its successful management.

Ad – 36 was first isolated in 1978 in a diabetic child in Germany. The name is derived from the adenoids, or pharyngeal tonsils, where the first adenovirus was discovered.

After a lot of medical speak, the conclusion was that more studies were needed.

Though obesity has multiple causes, an overlooked possibility is that in some instances it could be due to an infection. It is possible that viral infections exacerbate and facilitate the development of obesity, or its complications, by working in conjunction with other adipogenic factors.

Due to ethical considerations, human beings cannot be experimentally infected with these pathogens. In order to determine the role of viral pathogens in human obesity, that is does the Ad 36 virus cause obesity or there are increased titers of virus due to obesity, further research with larger sample size is required.

Importance of Water in Our Bodies

The Importance of Water in Our Bodies

We have all heard it over and over. Drink your H2O! Since our body is made up with more H2O than anything else, it makes perfect sense that this is important.

  • 85 percent of your brain is water.
  • The human body is nearly 70 percent water.
  • Waste filtered through our kidneys is dissolved in water.
  • If we cannot have water, we will be poisoned.
  • Each muscle in our body is nearly 80 percent water.
  • Including your heart muscle.

Tip for Weight Loss

Remember that it takes 20 minutes for your brain to register fullness. While you are eating, focus on eating slowly to give your body the time it needs. Put down your fork after a bite or two and drink some water. This will not only help you get your daily quota, but will help you feel satisfied with less food intake.

Hydrate with Fruit

Many fruits contain a lot of water. Take the obvious one, for example – watermelon. Watermelon is a sweet and healthy way to hydrate. It is a terrific source of the antioxidant, lycopene and vitamins C, A, and B6. It also contains a lot of water — a great way to keep hydrated in the hot sun! One cup of watermelon contains about 60 calories, zero fat, and counts as one fruit serving.

Food for Thought

Check out the calorie content in the following beverages. Couldn’t you replace one of these with a tall, cool glass of H2O?

  • Starbucks Venti Cappuccino. A 20 ounce serving equals 200 calories.
  • Burger King large Coke. A 32 ounce serving equals 310 calories.
  • 7-Eleven Double Gulp Coke. A 64 ounce serving equals 600 calories.

FDA Cult of Tyranny?

FDA Cult of Tyranny?

Is the FDA Cult of Tyranny?

There is a new film out regarding the FDA and the possible tyranny they are engaging in with pharmaceutical companies. The video is very convincing and something it appears we should all, as responsible and concerned citizens – at the very least – listen to and consider.

The video says that 6 million is spent daily on lobbying for drugs – that’s chilling. They state that drugs are often approved simply based on who has the most money. In other words, safety and efficacy may not matter a whit to the FDA.

Speaking of drugs, pay close attention to ads for prescription pills. Listen to the long list of side effects. There are two drugs currently advertising that actually list cancer as a possible side effect.

Yet, the FDA approves these drugs. The pharmaceutical companies make a fortune. Then people get sick or worse. Lawyers get in on the action and file huge lawsuits. People may win a little – if they are still alive. Lawyers get most of those fees.

So who is the big loser in this mess? We are, the little people.

“The thing that is most disturbing is that people think the FDA is protecting them. It isn’t. What the FDA is doing and what the public think it’s doing are as different as night and day”. – Herbert Lay, M.D., former FDA Commissioner
