4 cups water
1-1/2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon powdered ginger
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 pound calimyrna dried figs
1/4 cup orange juice
2 tablespoons lemon juice
Pine nuts for garnish
Combine the water, sugar, and spices in a sauce pan and bring to a boil over moderate heat.
Add the figs and cook for 15 minutes, until the syrup has thickened.
Stir in the fruit juices and remove from the heat. Chill for at least 2 hours in the refrigerator.
To serve, spoon into dessert dishes or serve over ice cream and sprinkle with pine nuts.
We recommend Calimyrna Figs because they offer an intriguing texture and a naturally sweet flavor that is perfect for snacking and cooking.
As far as nutrition, they are a great source of antioxidants! Made without any artificial colors, preservatives, or additives.
