Homemade LiquorThis is an excellent base for homemade liquors. Substitute chocolate, coconut, or any flavoring desired for vanilla extract and you will have made a different flavor alcohol. Food coloring can also be added to the cooled mixture to add a bit of pizzazz to your alcohol drinks! Perfect for warming up parties during the winter holidays.Ingredients: 1/2 cup sugar 1/4 cup water 1/2 cup vodka 2 teaspoons vanilla extract Directions: In a saucepan, combine sugar and water. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and let simmer 5 minutes. Remove from heat and cool to room temperature. Pour vodka and vanilla extract into the room temperature mixture. Pour the liquor into a sealable decanter; seal and store for at least two weeks before serving. Makes six, 1/2-cup servings Peppermint SchnappsIngredients:1/3 cup white sugar 1 (16 ounce) jar light corn syrup 2 cups vodka 2 teaspoons peppermint extract Directions: In a 2 quart pan over medium heat, combine sugar and corn syrup. Heat until sugar dissolves, stirring regularly, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in vodka. Cover and allow to cool. Stir in peppermint extract. Pour into a sealable bottle. Makes 16 servings Homemade Irish CreamIngredients:1 bottle Irish whiskey 8-3/4 ounces milk chocolate 2 (14 ounce) cans sweetened condensed milk 2 (12 fluid ounce) cans evaporated milk 2-1/2 cups heavy cream 1/4 teaspoon instant coffee granules Directions: Pour a small amount of whiskey into a large bowl. In the top of a double boiler, melt chocolate, stirring constantly until smooth. Mix the melted chocolate with the whiskey in the bowl. Gradually stir in the sweetened condensed milk and the evaporated milk. Stir in the cream, instant coffee granules, and the remaining whiskey. Pour mixture into 3 bottles, seal and store in refrigerator. Best if kept at least 1 month before using. To serve: shake bottle well, serve in small glasses over crushed ice. Makes 51 servings Coffee LiqueurIngredients:2 ounces instant espresso coffee powder 3-1/2 cups white sugar 2 cups boiling water 1 pint vodka 1 whole vanilla bean Directions: Mix coffee and sugar. Add boiling water and stir until dissolved. Cool. Add Vodka and pour into two 26 ounce empty bottles. Split vanilla into 4 pieces and add to bottles.
