Meat Gravy and Barbecue Sauce
Paleolithic Raw Food Recipe
Meat Gravy and Barbecue Sauce made with meat drippings, nut milk and arrowroot. Also includes a barbecue sauce recipe with olive oil and savory seasonings.
1 cup meat drippings
1 cup nut milk (such as Raw Vanilla Almond Milk)
1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon arrowroot
Add arrowroot to nut milk and stir well.
Add milk mixture to meat drippings and cook on low heat, stirring constantly until gravy is thickened.
Barbecue Sauce or Marinade
1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
1 branch fresh dill, crushed
1/4 teaspoon chopped, fresh tarragon
1/4 teaspoon summer savory
1/4 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
1 teaspoon fresh grated lemon peel
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
Heat the oil in a small saucepan, add the herbs, pepper and lemon peel. Let brew over a very low heat for about 4 to 5 minutes. Do not cook! Remove from heat and stir in the lemon juice. Use as a basting sauce or as a cold marinade for fish steaks.
