Sugar Cookies

Merry Christmas Blinkie


Ingredients:
Cream together:
1/2 cup butter
1 teaspoon vanilla

Add gradually, creaming until fluffy after each addition:
2 cups flour
1-1/2 teaspoon powder
1/2 teaspoon salt

Directions:
Chill dough thoroughly in refrigerator. Roll out 1/4-inch to 1/8-inch (depending on your preference) thick and cut with desired cookie cutters.

Bake cookies at 375-degrees for 10 to 12 minutes. Frost and decorate as desired.

This recipe doubles well!

Variations:
Ginger Cookies
Follow sugar cookie recipe, but reduce baking powder to 1/2-teaspoon. Sift 1/4-teaspoon baking soda, 1-1/2-teaspoon ginger, 1/2-teaspoon cinnamon and 1/4-teaspoon allspice with the flour mixture. Decrease sugar to 1/2-cup and blend 6-tablespoons molasses into creamed mixture. Omit vanilla.

Chocolate Sugar Cookies
Follow sugar cookie recipe. Melt two squares of baking chocolate and set aside to cool. Blend in after addition of eggs.
