This recipe is actually fairly easy on the waistline as well as the heart! The good-for-you oatmeal and raisins allow this candy to actually qualify as part of a heart-healthy diet! This being the case, I've included the nutrition information for you. Enjoy this treat and forget the guilt!
Ingredients:
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
16 large marshmallows
1/3 cup butter or margarine
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups oats -- uncooked
1 cup raisins
Directions:
In large saucepan, over low heat, melt chocolate, marshmallows, and
margarine, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat; cool slightly. Stir
in remaining ingredients. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto wax paper.
Chill two to three hours. Let stand at room temperature about 15 minutes before serving.
Store in tightly covered container in refrigerator.
Note: The 1-cup raisins can be any combination of dried fruits, flaked
coconut, miniature marshmallows, and/or chopped nuts.
