The word "germ" probably makes you think of sickness and disease. But put the word "wheat" in front of it, and you have a whole new ball game - Toasted Wheat Germ.
1/4 cup wheat germ
Spread wheat germ on a cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for about 5 minutes.
Use as a topping for salads, yogurt, ice cream, casseroles, and more.
Wheat Germ contains both zinc and antioxidants to help fight infection, in addition to Vitamin B. Hate the taste? Then switch out part of the flour in a recipe to sneak in a little wheat germ. For example, if 1-cup of flour is called for, make 1/8th cup of it wheat germ. A little goes a long way.
