Spiced Applesauce Low Salt Recipe
Ingredients:
11 ounces Granny Smith apples, peeled and sliced
11 ounces Golden Delicious apples, peeled and sliced
2/3 cup water
2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
2 tablespoons plus 2-teaspoons sugar
1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground cardamom

Directions:
Combine first four ingredients in a heavy saucepan over high heat. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium, cover and simmer about 20 minutes, or until apples are tender. Uncover and cook ten minutes longer, stirring frequently, until mixture thickens. Mash with a potato masher until chunky applesauce forms. Stir in sugar and spices. Transfer to a bowl, cover and chill overnight.
