Spiced Apple and Bramble SauceIngredients:One pound of cooking apples, peeled, cored and roughly chopped 5-ounce tin blackberries in apple juice 1/4 teaspoon mixed spice Directions: Put the chopped apple, the juice from the blackberries and the mixed spice into a saucepan. Cook, covered, over a gentle heat, shaking the pan frequently, for five to ten minutes, or just until the apples collapse into a puree. (Watch carefully towards the end of the cooking time so that the sauce doesn't burn.) Tip the contents of the pan into a bowl and allow to cool. Add the blackberries and stir gently so as not to break up the fruit too much. Transfer to a serving dish and refrigerate until needed.
