
Beef Goulash
Low Salt-Sodium Recipe

A goulash is always warming and satisfying, especially on cold winter days. Beef is rich in iron, which is needed to help keep blood healthy and to avoid anemia.
Recipe Ingredients
1 cup uncooked macaroni
1 pound lean ground beef
1/2 pound fresh mushrooms, sliced
1 cup chopped onions
1 clove garlic, minced
1 6-ounce can no salt added tomato paste
3/4 cup water
1 cup low sodium ketchup
1 small bay leaf
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon oregano
1/4 teaspoon basil
Recipe Directions
Cook macaroni according to package directions, omitting salt. Drain and set aside. Brown ground beef with mushrooms, onion and garlic. Pour off fat. Add remaining ingredients. Simmer gently about 15 minutes. Add cooked, drained macaroni. Simmer 5 minutes. Remove bay leaf and serve.
