Ashkenazic Haroset
Low Salt/Sodium Recipe

The most basic form of an Ashkenazi charoset recipe consists of nuts (usually either walnuts or almonds), wine, cinnamon, honey, and apples. I imagine one can refer to it as the "original" Ashkenazi charoset recipe.

Ingredients:
3/4 large tart apple, peeled, cored and chopped
2 tablespoons plus 2 teaspoons chopped walnuts
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ginger
1 teaspoon honey
2 teaspoons sweet red Passover wine

Directions:
Combine apples and nuts in a bowl. Stir in remaining ingredients. Recipe makes two low-salt/low sodium servings.
