The most basic form of an Ashkenazi charoset recipe consists of nuts (usually either walnuts or almonds), wine, cinnamon, honey, and apples. One could refer to it as the "original" Ashkenazi charoset recipe.
Recipe Ingredients
3/4 large tart apple, peeled, cored and chopped
2 tablespoons plus 2 teaspoons chopped walnuts
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ginger
1 teaspoon honey
2 teaspoons sweet red Passover wine
Recipe Directions
Combine apples and nuts in a bowl. Stir in remaining ingredients.
