Low Carbohydrate Recipe

Excellent sweet tomato sauce for barbecue chicken or ribs with just the right amounts of Worcestershire, vinegar, liquid smoke and sweetener. Equally delicious is the Easy BBQ Sauce recipe inlcuded below.

Sweet Barbecue Sauce


1 cup tomato sauce
3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon vinegar
1 teaspoon liquid smoke
3 packets sugar substitute (such as Stevia)

Recipe Directions

Mix all ingredients in a saucepan and cook over low heat for ten minutes, stirring occasionally.

Recipe makes 16-tablespoons.

Variation: Easy BBQ Sauce

BBQ 1/4 cup Splenda granular
1/2 cup minced onion
2 tablespoons cider vinegar
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1/2 cup minced green pepper
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
1 8-ounce can tomato sauce

Use medium saucepan sprayed with nonstick cooking spray. Saute onion and green pepper for five minutes. Stir in tomato sauce with vinegar, Splenda Granular and pepper. Bring to a boil. Then lower heat and simmer for ten minutes. Recipe makes four, 1/4-cup servings.
