Sour Cream Dip

Low Fat Recipe

Enjoy your favorite fruits with this lightly spiced sour cream dip. Use regular sour cream or half sour cream and half yogurt if you prefer.

Fruits with Sour Cream Dip


2 tablespoons sugar
1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon ground allspice
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 cup light dairy sour cream
1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1/8 teaspoon rum emulsion

Recipe Directions

Place sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and salt in a small bowl and stir until well combined.

Place sour cream in separate bowl and stir sugar mixture into sour cream. Add vanilla and rum extracts and stir.

Spoon into serving dish, cover, and refrigerate at least 2 hours. Serve with your favorite fresh fruit.

Recipe Note

You can substitute rum extract in place of the rum emulsion; however, this may not lend as much pure rum flavor as the emulsion. For flavoring, professional bakers almost exclusively use emulsions over alcohol-based extracts.
