Winter Fruit Compote includes healthy apples and pears with cranberry sauce spiced with ginger and cinnamon. If desired, spoon this compote over toasted angel food cake.

Apple and Pear in Winter Fruit Compote

Ingredients

3 medium cooking apples, cored and sliced
2 medium pears, cored and sliced
1 16-oz. can cranberry sauce
1/4 cup water
1/2 teaspoon grated ginger
1/2 teaspoon finely shredded lemon peel
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Toasted Angel Food Cake (optional)

Recipe Directions

In a 3-1/2 quart or 4 quart electric crockery cooker, combine apples, pears, cranberry sauce, water, ginger, lemon peel and cinnamon.

Cover and cook on low heat setting for 3 to 4 hours.

Serve warm.

If desired, spoon over slices of toasted angel food cake.
