Sisters Together: Move More, Eat Better
Sisters Together: Move More, Eat Better is a national initiative designed to encourage Black women 18 and over to maintain a healthy weight by becoming more physically active and eating healthier foods.
The Sisters Together initiative builds on the success of the pilot community awareness program held in Boston from 1995 to 1998. The pilot program promoted the "Move More Eat Better" message among Black women aged 18 to 35 through educational materials and planned activities such as walking groups, dance classes, and cooking demonstrations. Sisters Together focuses on Black women because recent statistics indicate that nearly 80 percent of them are overweight or obese.
