Buttermilk Biscuits

Whole Grain Recipe

By

Cooked mashed potatoes really lend moistness and texture while white and whole wheat flour are the grains. Buttermilk enhances and tenderizes.

Recipe Ingredients

1-1/4 cups flour
1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1 tablespoon sugar
1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup cooked mashed potatoes
1 cup buttermilk
3 tablespoons butter or margarine; melted

Recipe Directions

In large bowl, mix together first 6 ingredients and set aside.

In med bowl, whisk together potatoes, buttermilk, and melted butter.

Knead for 1 minute on lightly floured surface, adding more flour as needed.

Transfer biscuits to sprayed baking sheet and bake at 425 degrees for 13 to 15 minutes.
