Bulgur Wheat Bread
Whole Grain Recipe
Bulgur, molasses, honey, butter and yeast blended with bread and whole wheat flours, old fashioned rolled oats and cornmeal.
1/2 cup water
1/3 cup bulgur
1 cup water
1 tablespoon molasses
1 tablespoon honey
1-1/2 cups bread flour
1-1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1-1/2 teaspoons salt
1/2 cup old fashioned rolled oats
2 tablespoons cornmeal
2 tablespoons butter
2 teaspoons bread machine yeast
Heat 1/2 cup water to boiling in a small saucepan and add bulgur. Cook on medium-high heat for approximately 5 to 6 minutes until all of the water is absorbed; stir occasionally.
Remove pan from heat; allow bulgur to cool to room temperature.
Place cooked bulgur and remaining ingredients in bread pan according to manufacturers directions.
Select regular baking cycle, medium crust setting, and start machine.
Yield: 16 servings (One 1-1/2 pound loaf)
