Molasses Nut Bread

In this grain recipe you get your grains from raisins, nut meats and molasses. The flour used is all purpose.

Recipe Ingredients

2-3/4 cups flour; sifted all purpose
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup nut meats; chopped
1/2 cup seedless raisins
3/4 cup molasses
1 egg; beaten
1/4 cup shortening; melted or oil
2 teaspoons grated orange rind

Recipe Directions

Bottle of molasses Mix together and sift flour, baking powder, soda, salt and sugar into a mixing bowl; add nut meats and raisins and mix together.

Combine the milk, molasses, egg, shortening and orange rind; add to dry mixture and stir only enough to dampen flour.

Bake in a greased bread pan, 10 x 5 x 3 inch, in a moderate oven, 350 degrees for 1-1/4 hour.

This recipe makes a large loaf of bread.
