Both baking soda and baking powder are leavening agents, which means they are added to baked goods before cooking to produce carbon dioxide and cause them to rise. Baking powder contains baking soda, but the two substances are used under different conditions.
1/3 cup baking soda
2/3 cup creme of tartar
2/3 cup arrowroot starch
Thoroughly blend all ingredients together, and store in airtight container.
Recipe makes 1-2/3-cup of corn free baking powder.
