Warm Ginger Cola Recipe
Just plain healthy recipe...
At the first sign of sniffles, the Chinese order this warm ginger colar beverage, one of several health drinks developed and served in the local teahouses. Sweet and warm, this soothes the throat and the ginger followed by the tang of lemon is refreshing. Warm cola is an unusual ingredient. Sugar balances the ginger and lemon.
1 12-oz. can cola
4 1/4-inch slices fresh ginger
1 to 2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
4 thin slices lemon
Wash fresh ginger root in cold running water or rinse for few minutes to remove any sand, soil or pesticide residues.
Place cola, ginger and brown sugar in small saucepan.
Bring to a boil over medium heat; boil gently ten minutes.
Pour into cup; add lemon slices. Serve immediately.
Recipe makes one soothing serving Warm Ginger Cola.
