Snackin' Yogurt Recipe

Just plain healthy recipe...

You can eat yogurt out of its carton as a snack, but why not jazz it up into a healthful snack and call it Snackin Yogurt, instead?

Recipe Ingredients

6 to 8 ounces unflavored nonfat yogurt
2 dried figs, sliced
1/4 red apple, cored, diced
1/2 small banana, sliced
2 tablespoons granola
1 tablespoon toasted pecans, chopped
2 tablespoons maple syrup

Yummy Snackin Yogurt

Recipe Directions

Freeze yogurt about one hour. Remove lid and invert over small bowl.

Puncture bottom of container and shake to loosen contents. Remove carton or spoon yogurt into bowl.

Top with dried figs, apple, banana, granola and pecans. Pour on maple syrup.

Extra I: Cereal with Yogurt and Fruit

A bowl of cereal will never be the same after you've tried this creamy twist on the same old standby.

Fresh peaches 1 cup spoonsize shredded wheat cereal
1 container (8 ounce) low fat vanilla yogurt
1/2 cup peach slices

Top cereal with yogurt and peach slices. It's that quick and easy!

Extra II: Peanut Butter and Jelly Yogurt

Using store bought plain yogurt and jazzing it up with peanut butter and jelly gives yogurt a whole new taste sensation.

3/4 cup plain yogurt (whole, low fat or non fat)
2 tablespoons peanut butter
1-1/2 tablespoons grape jelly or other jam

Place yogurt, peanut butter and jelly or jam in a small keep-cool container. Mix together well with a spoon. This recipe makes 1 serving; double, triple up as desired/needed.

Extra III: Strawberry Yogurt Split

A bowl of cereal will never be the same after you've tried this creamy twist on the same old standby.

Fresh strawberries 1 banana
1 cup (4 oz.) fresh strawberries
1 tablespoon chopped, toasted almonds

Peel and split 1 banana. Place banana halves in serving bowl. Top with strawberries, yogurt, and almonds. This is an official 5 A Day recipe, and provides two servings of fruit. Makes 1 serving.
