Fitness Tip

Sleep Right for Your Back
A harder bed may not be better for your back. A recentstudy in Spine found that people who slept on softer beds reported less ower-back pain than those who snoozed on harder ones. Pillows? Yours shouldn't raise your head out of alignment with your spine. How to tell: If you're a back sleeper, your chin shouldn't press into your chest. If you're a side sleeper, it shouldn't curve up toward your shoulder.

Nutrition Tip

Quick Recipe

Mango-Tango Salsa
Salsa is low in calories and rich in lycopene, vitamin C and other antioxidants. Do it yourself with this recipe -- it takes just minutes and will put those juicy tomatoes of yours to good use! In addition, it's a low-sodium alternative to store bought.

Dice three tomatoes and two mangoes. Add one-half medium red onion, finely chopped, the juice of one lime and three tablespoons chopped cilantro. Salt (lightly) and pepper to taste. Top with 2 tablespoons chopped onions and 1 tablespoon mustard. Makes 4 servings. See also: Salsa Recipe Collection.

Tidbit(s)

Dance!
According to a study by the National Institute on Aging, dancing pumps up memory. In fact, regular boogying can reduce your risk of developing Alzheimer's by 76 percent. Dancing also elevates your mood by activating the brain's pleasure circuits so you can groove your way to a better state of mind. Dancing reduces stress, too, by allowing a physical and emotional release.

Food Fixes

Unlike most starches, rice doesn't produce gas as it's digested. No gas, no bloating.

Tasty Tidbit...
Grilled Avocado: Cut a ripe California avocado in half and remove the pit. Drizzle with fresh lime or lemon juice and brush lightly with olive oil. Gently place the cut-side down over hot coals for two to three minutes. Serve with salsa.
