Fitness Tip
Safe Weight Loss
A reasonable and safe weight
loss is 1 to 2 pounds per week. While it may take
as long as 6 months to lose the weight, it will
make it easier to keep the weight off. And it will
give you the time to make new healthy lifestyle
changes such as eating a healthy diet and
increasing your physical activity level. In addition,
it is better to maintain a moderate weight loss over a longer period of
time than it is to lose lots of weight and regain it. You can consider additional weight loss after
you have lost 10 percent of your current body
weight and have maintained it for 6 months.

Skip a Meal, Help Your Heart
Could going without lunch be a new way to fight heart disease? Researchers at Intermountain Medical Center found that Mormons (who fast for 24 hours once a month) and others who regularly practice meal skipping reduced their heart disease risks by 39 percent. The tactic may help your body break down sugars and lower the risk of insulin resistance, a condition associated with diabetes and heart disease. A safer solution: Try skimpier portions. They'll lower your heart disease risk simply by helping you drop a few pounds.

Stress and Cancer
It's been a long-standing myth that stress causes cancer; however, a big study in The Lancet found no evidence of any such thing. Stress can, however, make you more prone to colds, headaches, and gastro problems. And limiting it can help lower your blood pressure. See also: Stress and Your Immune System
Food Fixes
While grapefruit lasts longer when refrigerated—up to eight weeks, they can still be left out. In fact, grapefruit are juicer at room temperature.
Tangerines and mandarins are essentially the same fruit. Clementine is a naturally seedless type of Tangerines.
Tasty Tidbit...
Cutting grapefruit into four wedges, like an orange, is a great "on-the-go" nutritious treat.
