Green Tea Fights Fat  Need another healthy reason to drink green tea? Aside from fighting heart disease, cancer, and other diseases, a new study shows that drinking green tea may also fight fat.

Fitness Tip

Garlic Can Relieve Athlete's Foot
Garlic kills all sorts of fungi-including the one that causes athlete's foot. Drop a few freshly minced cloves of garlic into a cotton sock, and then wear the sock overnight. (Just be sure to wash your feet in the morning with something that has a more pleasant scent!) Repeat the treatment nightly until the fungus disappears, usually within 7 to 10 days. Garlic can also fight arterial plaque, improve the elasticity of arteries, and reduce blood clotting and slightly lower cholesterol, triglycerides and high blood pressure.

Nutrition Tip

Organically Grown Fruits and Vegetables
Some studies show that origanically grown fruits and vegetables have significantly higher levels of cancer-fighting antioxidants than conventionally grown foods. You can be assured that a tomato label "organic" has been verified and certified as organic. If a canned or packaged food, such as pasta sauce, bears an organic label or seal, then 95 to 100 percent of its contents comes from bona fide organic-food growers. However, if a label says, "made with organic ingredients", rather than simply organic, the product can contain as little as 70 percent organic ingredients. See also: What is Organic?

Quick Recipe

Easy 3 Minute Microwave Fudge
...low in fat and calories compared to regular fudge!
1 can fat free condensed milk
18 ounces semi sweet chocolate (3 cups)
Pinch of salt
1-1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1- 7 oz. jar marshmallow creme

Microwave milk, chocolate and salt for 1-1/2 minutes. Stir. Microwave 30 more seconds and stir again. Keep alternating stirring and checking every 30 seconds until mixture is smooth.
Note: If you microwave this too long or microwave without stirring, the chocolate will seize and it will be ruined.
When chocolate is melted stir in vanilla and marshmallow creme. Pour into greased (with butter) 8 × 8-inch pan. Refridgerate until set. This doesn’t need to be refridgerated once it is set. Cut into squares and serve. Serves 18 (approximately 2×2 inch pieces in 11 x 7-inch pan- 238 calories per piece.)

Tidbit(s)

Don't Squabble!
The Ohio State University researched the healing process and among other findings, discovered that couples in fight-prone marriages take an average of two days longer to heal from a blister. Even unconflicted couples needed an extra day for healing if they had a spat the same day the were injured.

Food Fixes

Decaf? Avoid caffeine drinks within six hours of bedtime, since it can impair your ability to nod off later. As we age, we become more susceptible to caffeine.

To bread chicken cutlets and other ingredients: Use one hand for wet ingredients and another for dry when breading to avoid breading your hands along with dinner.

Tasty Tidbit...
Water aids in digestion, curbs hunger and ramps up fat-burning, but let's face it; it's bland. Add a few slices of lemon or lime and you'll get a dose of vitamin C, which can also help blast off abdominal fat.
