Got milk?
A study sponsored by the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute found that, among people who did not eat a lot of saturated fat, those who consumed more than three daily servings of milk, yogurt, or cheese had systolic blood pressure (the top number ) almost four points lower than those who ate only half a serving daily. High blood pressure can damage your arteries, increasing your risk for heart attack and stroke. Researchers say low fat dairy is the smart choice, because it's lower in saturated fat.
Nutrition Tip
Almonds for a Healthier Heart
Eating a handful of almonds a day is a simple choice that makes a tasty and healthy difference. Low in saturated fat and high in vitamin E, almonds are one snack you can literally take to heart. Research shows that eating an ounce of almonds (about 23) a day in place of foods higher in saturated fat can help you maintain a healthy cholesterol level. Plus, they're a great source of protein and fiber! One once of almonds provides:
- 35 percent daily value of vitamin E
- 20 percent daily value of magnesium
- 6 grams of protein
- 3 grams of fiber
Almonds -- a tasty way to also get calcium, iron and other important nutrients.

Weight Tracker
Google 15 gives you a realistic picture of your diet progress. Google 15's tracking tool calculates your moving average weight -- in other words, whether the numbers on the scale are on an upward or downward trend. Just add the tool to your Google home page, enter your goal weight, and log your daily scale reading. If your moving average starts sneaking higher, you'll get an early-warning message so you can adjust your diet or exercise routine. Weighing in daily can help you better maintain your body weight, according to a 2006 study by The Miriam Hospital and Brown Medical School. And thanks to Goolge 15, you can follow that advice without obsessing over small fluctuations.
Food Fixes

In addition, this mighty nut has no cholesterol, is low in carbhoydrates and is higher in calcium than any other nut. The USDA suggests a daily serving of about 23 almonds (or one ounce).
Grate too-large zucchini into soups, sauces, or muffin batter to get a quick boost of vitamins A and C.
