Fitness Tip

Need Motivation? Rent a Gym Locker
Seems simple but think about how much energy you expend lugging your stuff around. Every holiday season, get a locker at the gym and leave your workout clothes there, with some make up, deodorant, cologne/perfume, etc. and any other necessities. This way you do not have to take anything with you or even try to remember what to take with you. You also are not allowing yourself any excuses not to hit the gym after work.

Nutrition Tip

Oatmeal
Oatmeal isn't just a cholesterol-free food...it's a unique whole grain food that goes in and actually soaks up excess cholesterol and removes it from your body. Oatmeal contains soluble fiber that actively finds the excess cholesterol, which can clog arteries and lead to heart disease, and binds with it. Your bloodstream cannot absorb the cholesterol, so it's removed from your body. This means you could see a drop in your overall number.

Be sure to use plenty of candles to set the mood, but never use scented candles when serving food. The two don't mix well!

Work Weighing You Down?
Keeping work stress in check may help you keep your waistline trim. Work-related stress -- including feeling exhausted at the end of the day or feeling like work was too overwhelming -- may contribute to weight gain, a recent study suggests. When a jammed work schedule has you frazzled, keep your cool with regular walking and stretching breaks, deep breathing exercises , and a lunch break outside. See also: Coping with Stress

Food Fixes

When peeling potatoes, try using a rubber thimble on a few fingers, the ones you want to keep whole.

If you are making tuna salad sandwiches, flaked or grated tuna is your best option since the mixture will be broken up anyway. Canned tuna is sold in three grades -- solid or fancy (large pieces), chunk (smaller pieces), and flaked or grated (bits and pieces). Albacore tuna is the only tuna you can label "white meat."

For burgers that sizzle, add four tablespoons of ice water to each pound of lean chopped sirloin. The grill's heat will seal in the extra moisture, making your home made quarter-pound burgers juicier than ever before!
