The Best Time to Exercise  When is the best the most suitable exercise time for you?

Fitness Tip

Aching Head?
Extra pounds can cause headaches -- literally. Doctors at New York's Albert Einstein College of Medicine found that overweight people (a 5-foot 5-inch woman who ways 150 pounds or more, for example) were about 25 percent more likely to get headaches 10 to 15 days per month. Many headaches are caused by blood vessel inflammation, and overweight people are more prone to it. Exercise and a low-fat diet can help you cut inflammation and lose the weight.

Calorie-Counting Mishaps
Dieting, but the pounds won't budge? If you are counting calories, new research shows you may be falling victim to bad math. Cornell University researchers found that most people grossly underestimate the number of calories they eat -- especially when they are grabbing large meals at fast food restaurants. The researchers suggest sizing up each food on your plate, instead of evaluating the meal as a whole, and getting a good handle on standard portion sizes. See also: Portion Sizes.

ScentSational Technologies
"Follow your nose" is taking on a new meaning in grocery stores. A company called ScentSational Technologies has created packages for cookies and breads, microwavable trays, and beverage bottles that smell like what is inside. And these aren't just simple aromas -- ScentSational has developed everything from maple brown sugar and roasted garlic to tomato-basil. One product already on the market is Aroma Water, whose cap is scented with lemon lime or mandarin orange. And more are due out this year.

Food Fixes

When cooking fruit, retain nutrients by cooking quickly and using as little liquid as possible. Save cooking liquids and turn them into a syrup or blend some into your breakfast fruit juice.

Next time you need to chop chives, scallions or herbs, use your kitchen scissors for fast, even results.

Bring foods to a cool room temperature before placing on a grill. Cold foods may burn on the outside before the interior is cooked.
