Eight Time Saving Work out Tips  One of the most common excuses we have for skipping a workout/exercise routine is lack of time -- see if these tips can't help you squeeze in some exercise in spite of your busy schedule!

Fitness Tip

New Reasons to go Mediterranean
Eating a Mediterranean diet -- a lot of fruits, vegetables, legumes, some fish, red wine, and little dairy or red meat -- may significantly lower your risk of Alzheimer's disease, according to research supported by the National Institutes of Health. Past studies also credit the diet with lowering your risk of heart disease and cancer, and adding years to your life. Here is how you can go Mediterranean:

Stock up on vegetables, get your dairy servings from low-fat cheese and yogurt instead of high-fat milk products, increase the monounsaturated fats (in olive oil, nuts and avocados) that you eat, and go ahead -- pour that glass of red wine with dinner. See also: Belly Byte: Olivado Avocado Oil

Nutrition Tip

Keep Dinner Light
A huge evening meal, or eating and then snacking between dinner and bedtime, will make you sluggish and interfere with a good night's sleep. Count on feeling under the weather in the morning. If you need a bite before bedtime, enjoy a small, complex-carbohydrate snack with warm herbal tea 30 to 60 minutes before bedtime.

Chimes Ginger Chews
Healthy snacks are increasingly portable now! You can now tuck the tummy-calming benefit of ginger into your purse or pocket with these ches, which come in a classy little tin. Made from stone-ground ginger, they are spicy-sweet and just 16 calories each. They're available in original, peppermint, and peanut butter, all with that great ginger zing. They cost from $1.99 to $2.29 a tin at Cost Plus World Market stores or online, at Chimes Gourmet. See also: The Health Benefits of Ginger.

Food Fixes

Thinly slicing meat can be a challenge, freezing the meat for 30 to 60 minutes makes it an easy job to cut thin even slices for cooking.

Slicing fresh mozzarella can be messy. Use an egg slicer to simply and easily cut perfect, even slices.

Marinades can be used to add flavor to meat and vegetables or tenderize less-tender cuts of meat.
