Refuel Muscles
Eat within 30 to 90 minutes after an intense workout to capitalize on increased levels of glycogen synthase, an enzyme that helps refuel your muscles with glycogen (stored carbohydrates), so you will be energized for physical activity the next day. The better fueled you are, the better you will be able to put your muscles through their paces.

Pizza
Is pizza healthy any way you slice it? No, but you can make it so... To make healthy pizza, you've got to attack the fat. Instead of full-fat mozzarella, sausage and pepperoni, increase the variety and quantity of vegetables and use a small amount of flavorful cheese, such as feta or Parmesan. Given the amount of pizza Americans eat, any choice to cut calories helps; collectively, we eat about 100 acres of pizza each day, which works out to 46 slices of pizza for every man, woman and child over the course of a year. Quick Recipe

Italian Bean Burgers
Mash two rinsed and drained 15-ounce cans cannellini beans; add one egg, one-quarter cup seasoned dried bread crumbs and 1-1/2 teaspoons Italian seasoning. Mix well. Form into four 1/2-inch thick patties. Cook in a little olive oil in a non-stick skillet three minutes per side or until hot and crusty. Place on toasted sandwich buns. Top with heated (store-bought) marinara sauce and grated Parmesan cheese. Serve with baked potato chips.

The Dairy-Weight Connection
Recent research found that overweight adults who ate a balanced reduced-calorie diet including three daily servings of milk (8 ounces), yogurt (8 ounces), or cheese (1.5 ounces) lost more weight than those eating similar reduced-calorie diets with either calcium supplements or minimal amounts of dairy foods.

Food Fixes

For pretty ice cubes, drop berries or small pieces of fruit into the compartments of an ice cube tray. Fill the tray with water and freeze. To make fun stirrers, put vegetable or fruit chunks on small skewers.

Add apples to pan-grilled or baked dishes with pork, chicken, potatoes and onions.

If you poke a hole in the middle of hamburger patties when shaping them the burgers will cook faster and the holes will disappear during the cooking process.
