Speed Healing with Exercise
Regular exercise speeds the healing process in healthy people over 50. Typically, healing slows as we age, but when people exercised for a month before researchers gave them a cut, they mended ten days quicker than those who did not exercise.
Nutrition Tip
Snacking is a must!
By changing the way you snack, you may make it easier to lose weight. Eating something every 3 to 4 hours sustains energy, helps build a day's worth of good nutrition, and prevents hunger that may lead to overeating. Stock your desk with the right stuff: Ready-to-eat whole grain cereal; single-serving microwave popcorn, fruit juices or low-fat pudding; vanilla wafers, fig bars or ginger snaps without hydrogenated oils; instant oatmeal; applesauce; canned fruit (in its own juice).

Quick Recipe
Sloppy Jacques
In a large non-stick skillet, cook one-pound lean ground round for five or six minutes or until no longer pink; drain. Stir in 2-tablespoons flour; mix well. Stir in one can (10-1/2 ounces) condensed French onion soup. Cook and stir over medium heat until bubbly. Continue cooking and stirring two more minutes or until sauce thickens. Spoon onto toasted hamburger buns.

Soup 'n Sodium
Most of us know that cream soups are high in fat, but it is important to note that they are all high in salt, often containing 900 milligrams of sodium or more per serving. Try the low-sodium soups on the market instead, or make your own soup from scratch. Don't hesitate to try different brands to compare. Watch for serving size. Make sure the numbers are for more than a few spoonfuls!
Food Facts
Eggshells have up to 17,000 surface pores, and can easily absorb refrigerator odors so it's best to store them in their original cartons.
Before sauteing onions, pour boiling water over them then pat dry; they cook faster this way.
Pickled foods are generally high in sodium. To reduce the salt in pickled cucumbers and peppers, rinse with cold water before eating.
