Fitness Tip
Track the Length of Your Walks
If you are interested in measuring your latest walking route, there is a free feature on the USA Track and Field Web site that will accurately tally the miles you cover. Go to USAtf.org, click on "America's Running Routes", then "Create a Route". You can zoom in on a starting point anywhere in the United States to measure your current loop or map out a new one (the site will flag each mile). Cool extra: Choose the satellite view and you will see actual images of the buildings and landmarks along your path.
Nutrition Tip
Drowning a Diet?
Beware the stealth calories in sugary juices and sodas if you're trying to lose weight -- they add up fast, and have little nutritional value. Even 100 percent fruit juice, which is packed with lots of great nutrients, can give you much more sugar than you bargained for. Choose water, flavored seltzer, vegetable juices and skim milk instead. Save soda for an occasional treat. Choose fresh fruit over high-calorie fruit juice for loads of fiber and much less sugar.

Herbal Remedies
Some herbal remedies are marketed on the Internet with misleading or unproven health claims that violate federal law, according to a study of 443 Web sites. Of the sites examined, 292 made health claims for their products, such as the ability to cure, prevent, or treat a disease. More than half of those omitted a federally required disclaimer saying that the statements had not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration and that the products were not intended to treat or prevent disease. Researchers said the study should not lead people to assume that such products are ineffective; rather, they should be mindful of unproven claims and always watch for a Doctor Approved brand.
