Getting Enough Sleep?
Even the mildest sleep deprivation can be the root cause of many medical and psychological conditions, including high blood pressure, heart disease, obesity, impaired memory, depression and anxiety. There are many factors that could affect your ability to get a good nights sleep. Stress, a poorly made mattress, anxiety, pain, depression ... but no matter the cause, do try to help yourself get enough rest. Seven to eight hours a night for the average adult would be considered a good night's rest.

Nutrition Tip

Dining Out on a Diet
Save calories by choosing chicken or fish over red meat and make sure it's baked, broiled or grilled rather than fried or sauteed. Avoid anything scalloped, au gratin, breaded, creamy, a la king or Alfredo: All are loaded with fat. Steer clear of the classic French butter sauces: beurre blanc, Barnaise and Hollandaise. Simple pasta dishes without butter or cheese make good choices. Stick with fruit or sorbet for dessert.

Shopping for Snacks
Check the Nutrition Facts panel and look for these numbers: Less than 200 calories, and no more than 3g of total fat, 1g of saturated fat, 400mg sodium per serving. Bonus challenge: Choose snacks with no hydrogenated oils in the ingredient list. Don't expect to find much protein, vitamins or minerals in the snack aisle -- most of these foods don't offer a much nutrient bang for your bite. Above all, stick to the recommended serving size to keep from going overboard on calories. See also: Quick 100 Calorie Snacks

Dampen a paper towel, wrap it around your celery, and then wrap completely in foil. Your celery will stay crisp in your refrigerator for at least a month.

A few drops of lemon juice added to whipping cream helps it whip faster and better.

If a dish is too sweet add salt to it, a little at a time. If the dish is an entree, side dish, or vegetable you can add a teaspoon of cider vinegar to combat the sweetness.
