Fitness Tip

Health Club Mirrors
Ever wonder why health clubs have all those mirrors? It's not for vanity's sake! The mirrors are there to assure you're maintaining proper form when exercising . You're not being a narcissist when you position yourself in front of the mirror; pay careful attention to see you're doing the exercise right. If you are uncertain as to how to perform an exercise, don't ever hesitate to ask for help.

Nutrition Tip

Fruits and Vegetables Have Fluid
Did you know that fruits and vegetables have fluid? Some of these nutritional goodies are over 90 percent water so they may help quench that thirst. Grapes, pineapple, watermelon, celery, and lettuce are just a few. Not only will they satisfy you when you're thirsty, but they also count towards your 5-a-day. See also:

Quip or Quote of the Week

Quip:
Java junkie? Good news! Unless you're pregnant or have high cholesterol, go ahead and enjoy your morning coffees -- they are harmless.

Quick Recipe

Fresh Fruit Sorbet
Place 2-1/2 cups (about one pound) any packaged frozen fruit pieces and 2-tablespoons sugar (or more to taste) into a food processor. Puree fruit by pulsing processor on and off while gradually adding 1/4-cup non-sweetened apple juice for two minutes or just until sorbet becomes well blended, smooth and creamy. Serve immediately or freeze.

Tidbit(s)

Potato Chips
It takes many pounds of potatoes to produce a single pound of potato chips. Although one large, 200 calorie potato is nutritious and satisfies your hunger, some people opt instead for a pound of potato chips -- about 2,400 nutritionally poor calories -- at one sitting.

Food Facts

Before wrapping chicken for the freezer, spray sheets of aluminum foil with nonstick cooking spray. When you unwrap it later, the foil comes right off without sticking or tearing.

Always thaw ground beef in the refrigerator -- never at room temperature. Brown the meat until it is no longer pink, and drain it thoroughly.

Unbaked cookie dough can be refrigerated for up to two weeks or frozen up to six weeks. It is convenient to have on hand when you want to bake up a batch in a hurry.
