Egg Safety -- Don't let those Easter eggs make you sick this Easter. Instead, enjoy them, worry free!

Fitness Tip

15 Minute Cardio Workout
If you are in a hurry, consider interval training for just 15 minutes! Those 15 minutes of intense interval training can replace 45 minutes of low-level cardio such as walking. The difference is that instead of maintaining a moderate pace during your exercise session, you alternate all-out sprints with rest periods. This technique will burn calories and can be powerful for everyday people, even those with heart conditions or previously inactive people.

Regarding timing, alternate one minute of sprinting with one minute of resting. This plan works well for most people. However, anything from 30 seconds to two minutes of sprinting with rest periods from one minute to four minutes in between will work.

Nutrition Tip

Lentils: The perfect food?
Here are five good reasons it just might be lentils. 1) Lentils, a fine source of plant protein, don't take hours to cook, unlike other dried beans. 2) Lentils are rich in soluble fiber, which helps control blood cholesterol. 3) Lentils provide some calcium, iron and other trace minerals. 4) Lentils are one of the best sources for folic acid, a B vitamin critical for preventing neural tube defects. 5) Lentils may protect against some types of cancers and lower heart disease risk. Quick Recipe

Nature's Teeth Whitening
Strawberries can actually whiten your smile! Combined with baking soda, strawberries become a natural tooth-cleanser, removing stains from coffee, red wine and dark sodas. Note: Be careful not to use this too often as the acid could damage the enamel on your teeth.

1 ripe strawberry
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
Crush the strawberry to a pulp, then mix with the baking powder until blended. Use a soft toothbrush to spread the mixture onto your teeth. Leave on for five minutes, then thoroughly with toothpaste to remove the berry-baking powder mix. Floss (to remove any seeds) and rinse. Use once a week.

Tidbit(s)

Walk on By
To avoid future temptations, bypass sugary sweets and salty treats while grocery shopping. Keeping these foods out of the pantry may also help you find healthier snacking options. If you buy treats for the kids, purchase items that they enjoy, but that do not interest you. Avoid buying unhealthy snacks in bulk.

Food Facts

To determine whether an egg is fresh or not, immerse it in a pan of cool, salted water. If it sinks, it is fresh. If it rises to the surface, throw it away.

Coat a knife with cooking spray before slicing a pie so sticky fillings won't cling to the blade.

To preserve fresh herbs, gently wrap them in a damp paper towel, place them in a zip-top plastic bag, and refrigerate up to ten days.
