Emotional Eating -- Are you trying to stick to a healthy eating plan, when along comes a situation or problem that totally stresses you out?
Fitness Tip
Muscled out?
Inactive adults over age 30 lose about 3 to 5 percent of muscle tissue every 10 years; here's what you can do. Go to the weight room. Strength training prevents the reduction in muscle tissue that causes the body metabolism to slow and makes the bones more vulnerable to conditions like osteoporosis.
Nutrition Tip
Yogurt's Bacteria
Yogurt is crawling with bacteria -- and the more of it you eat, the better. Be sure to buy yogurt with a seal that guarantees it has live, active cultures. These cultures -- especially acidophilus and bifida -- colonize the lower intestines with beneficial bacteria while muscling out disease-causing bacteria. Eating yogurt may help prevent diarrhea in people taking antibiotics. Yogurt is easy to digest, especially for those who are lactose intolerant, and is an excellent source of calcium, protein, riboflavin (a B vitamin), vitamin B-12 (which may be low in vegetarian diets) and vitamin A. To avoid unwanted saturated fat, choose nonfat or low-fat yogurt.

Quick Recipe
Barbecue Pork Sandwiches
In a 3-quart or larger slow cooker, place 2-1/2 to 3-pound boneless, well-trimmed pork shoulder roast (such as a Boston butt or similar cut) cut into two pieces, and top with 1 to 1-1/2-cups of your favorite barbecue sauce. Cook on low eight to ten hours. Remove pork from cooker, shred with two forks and return to cooker. Mix well and serve on toasted poppy seed rolls. Tip: Use bone-in pork if desired.
Tidbit(s)
Savor Food Slowly
Not only are you more likely to overeat and neglect portion control when you are quickly shoveling in your supper, but you are also less likely to enjoy the food. Do not eat in front of the television or (even worse) standing over the sink. Instead, sit down to your meal and give the food and its flavor your full attention. And, enjoy it!
Food Fixes
To clean a thermos bottle, fill the bottle with water, drop in four Alka-Seltzer tablets and let soak for an hour or more, if needed.
To keep your potatoes from budding out, place an apple in the bag with the potatoes.
To maintain the flavor of freshly ground coffee, store it in the refrigerator.
