The Perfect Meringue -- Make the perfect meringue topping on your pies!

Fitness Tip

Anger Suppression
Suppressing anger has been linked to depression, and many health care experts believe it can lead to a variety of increased health risks, from weight gain to heart attacks. One option:  Exercise with punch. "Anger-obics", a term coined by anger expert Lisa Tener, combines movement, visualization, creativity and humor to help you physically express anger in healthful ways. EXamples range from stomping on a Post-it note -- on which you've written a word or situation that gets your goat -- to dancing energetically while shaking a scarf to release your anger.

Menu Makeovers
A simple recipe makeover can turn you high-fat, high-calorie foods into many healthier, guilt-free meals:

Quip or Quote of the Week

Quote:
"I have often noticed that when chickens quit quarreling over thier food that they often find that there is enough for all of them. I wonder if it might not be the same with the human race." --Dan Marquis

Quick Recipe

Soy Smoothie
Mix a creamier smoothie and get the healthy bonus of soy protein by using silken tofu instead of milk or yogurt as the base. Enjoy this quick recipe for a tasty, fruity soy shake: 3 to 4 ounces of silken tofu, 4 ounces 100 percent orange juice, frozen unsweetened strawberries, 1/2 medium banana, crushed unsweetened pineapple. Blend thoroughly and enjoy!

Twice-a-Day Breakfast Diet
Researchers has 28 people eat cereal with 2/3 cup of fat free milk and a piece of fruit for two meals each day (breakfast and either lunch or dinner). The "breakfast club" also snacked on fruits and vegetables and ate a normal third meal. After two weeks on the twice-a-day cereal diet, the average weight loss was 4.2 pounds. Because cereal is also a great way to get fiber (critical for fighting disease), be sure to choose one that contains at least 7g of fiber per serving.

Food Fixes

Spice up your meringue by adding a teaspoon of cinnamon to the sugar when making the meringue.

When removing labels from jars, try using a vegetable peeler to ease the process. It will even take off the glue if you soak the jar in hot water first.

Dried herbs should be stored in a cool, dry place. However, red spices such as chili powder, paprika and red pepper will maintain flavor and color longer if stored in the refrigerator.
