Mullein Leaf
Mullein Leaf is a common wildflower that grows almost anywhere. Mullein leaf and flower is an expectorant and demulcent (soothing) herb. Using mullein in a tea for coughs and respiratory irritations is approved in Europe. The actions are from mucus loosening saponins and this can bring relief. Mullein is an immune enhancer, active against respiratory disorders. Mullein is most effective when combined with herbs with similar qualities, such as slippery elm bark and elecampane root.

Nutty Fruit and Cheese Salad
Combine one-diced peach, 1-cup blueberries, one small diced apple, 2-ounces low fat Swiss cheese cubes and 1/2-ounce walnut halves, chopped.

- A 1/2-cup serving of carrots is an excellent source of vitamin A, which is important for vision, especially night vision, and for helping maintain healthy skin.

- A 1/2-cup serving of canned tomatoes offers a good source of vitamin C and vitamin A.

Food Fixes
When cooking with garlic cloves, pierce each one with a toothpick. This makes them easy to retrieve especially in a sauce.
Butter the rim of a pan in which you cook rice or macaroni so it won't boil over.
Spray a bit of non-stick spray on your grater before shredding cheese. It prevents the cheese from sticking to the blade.
Place bay leaves in kitchen drawers and in flour/sugar containers to keep crawling insects away.
